The only thing I wasn't aware of is the professional and personal care they give each guest at this wonderful hotel. I like to be engaged with the staff and they didn't let me down making sure I had a fun and exciting adventure in their beautiful country. We were picked up at the airport in a plush mercedes van and driven to the edge of the pedestrian area where two staff in smart uniform met us and carried out bags to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated like royalty for the whole stay. Our room was spacious with a deep bath, electric black out blinds and a huge shower and fresh tea and a coffeemaker with coffee beans. The breakfasts were huge - fruit, cheese, cold meats, smoothie, omelets, eggs, desserts. We had the tasting menu private dining one night - it was out of this world - all local fresh food - the chef is talented and Viktor our waiter knew everything about the menu. Everything in the hotel is sustainable. The quality is extremely high and each room is different - we were lucky enough to be shown some other rooms. What comes across is that the staff absolutely love the place and are so enthusiastic and passionate - Marko about the wine and food, Gregor about the hotel and all those whose names we didn't get. Wonderful experience.Posted onVerified Blown Away My Husband and I decided to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and my birthday in Ljubljana at Zlata Ladjica. When initially planning our trip, I considered all the usual spots such as Paris or Rome, but I’m so glad we decided on Slovenia. What a beautiful country, with lovely, friendly people and reasonable prices. All communications with Gregor, the Concierge were smooth and reassuring before we arrived. I communicated to the hotel that we were celebrating and also that we are vegan. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and given a delicious welcome drink. We were shown to our room- even though we arrived earlier than check in. We stayed in a double room named Urska and the Water man. Every room has a story and all rooms are beautifully appointed, with a fusion of traditional and ultra modern interiors. The staff had left sparkling wine on ice for us- a lovely touch.The bed was exceptionally comfortable, I commented to the staff, it was like a cloud. Breakfast was an event in itself, with multiple delicious courses. All the staff were aware that we were both vegan and breakfast was tailored to our requirements. We ate like kings and were not hungry again till supper. On my birthday night, we were invited to dine at the restaurant and the head chef prepared us a special vegan menu. It was sublime and the efforts of the staff to accommodate us was much appreciated. We went back to our room after our day out and flowers and vegan cakes had been left for us! The team at Zlata go above and beyond to surprise and delight. The level of service at this charming boutique hotel is unparalleled and something which is hard to come by, even the most exclusive 5 star hotel would be hard pushed to provide the same personalised, warm and intuitive service as Zlata. Our stay was made absolutely perfect and the memories that we made will be cherished for years to come. The entire team are exceptional and truly make this hotel worth visiting. The location is perfect, right in the centre of the city, overlooking the river.The rooms are not huge, but are very comfortable and romantic. I highly recommend staying at Zlata Ladjica if you want to be spoiled.Posted onVerified Fairytale Experience in a Fairytale City Where do I even start? How this hotel is not #1 in Ljubljana is a complete mystery to me. This is the ONLY place to stay. We just checked out and I am already planning a return trip. This hotel was beyond wonderful, it is the only hotel I have stayed where the entire staff seemed genuinely invested in our comfort and enjoyment of not just the hotel, but the entire country of Slovenia. This is truly a five-star experience. Days prior to check-in I was contacted and given instructions on getting to the hotel and they followed up a few times to ensure we were prepared (if you are driving in they will need to meet you outside the city center and will handle all parking, luggage, etc.). The Location: You cannot get a better location or more centrally located than this hotel. Right on the river bank winding through the old town, you walk outside and are in the middle of it all.The room: Upon arrival we were directed to the hotel’s bar where a welcome drink was waiting while our check-in was handled by staff. We were then escorted to our room where our luggage had magically arrived and given a full room tour with instructions on lights, temperature, etc. Each room is unique, we stayed in their City Quay room which included a small balcony and was the perfect size for my husband and myself. Waiting in our room was a welcome plate of fruit and cookies as well as a fridge stocked with complementary waters, local sodas, milk and juice. Need coffee? There is a Jura machine in the room ready to churn out any of your caffeine needs as well as four jars of local tea. The rooms are equipped with all the basic amenities…toiletries, robes, slippers (they were thoughtful enough to include smaller slippers for me and a large pair for my husband that actually fit his size 14 feet which is unheard of).The staff were on hand to provide recommendations, reservations, directions, or assist with any need.The food: Breakfast is included and I HIGHLY encourage you not to miss out, it is a grand affair with multiple courses. You start with water, juice, a smoothie, and choice of coffee/tea. Then comes the basket of bread with two local honeys and two homemade jams, a fruit platter, and a platter of local meats and cheeses. Oh, and of course a daily danish/sweet treat. Still feeling peckish? Well here comes the “second part” where you can choose from eggs cooked any way, eggs Benedict three styles, bacon, local sausage, porridge, yogurt parfait, or the local sausage (try it!). All served table side or in your room by the most charming waiter.We also had dinner in their on-site restaurant which was wonderful. The evening waiter was equally charming and had great recommendations for local wines.Other Services: Need a bike? They’ve got it. Need a tour? They will arrange it. Need anything? They will bend over backwards all with a smile.Any complaints? Not really. If I HAD to give the hotel a recommendation, and this would be something VERY minor, I would recommend a heater on the balcony so you can stay out there enjoying the views and nightlife below.Posted onVerified Eccezionale! The best home made bread variants I tasted in years, even a cooked potato with trout caviar, crème fraiche with chives, sounds so simple but was so sublime. I can go on for hours about the dream chef & the top patron. But… we will come back already this year Christmas especially for the food. We discovered that it was a hotel as well and got a tour through the coziest rooms, so we are going to choose one bedroom for second Christmas Day. Exceptional is the first word that comes to mind when thinking of this hotel, a hotel where I spent a total of 16 days. Service, location, breakfast and rooms were all of the highest calibre. A perfect holiday retreat with every wish addressed with a friendly smile and wonderful efficiency.Firstly, I must commend Gregor, the Golden Key concierge, who was truly phenomenal in going far beyond the call of duty in providing me with outstanding service. Kudos to him!The staff at reception (Tjasa, Yulih, Nina, Tim, Ana and Stas) were always ready to answer all my queries which made the stay so welcoming. Of course, breakfast was a truly extraordinary event each day with a wide array of food choices, all of the highest quality. Marko, Blaz, Bojan, Kana, Lucija and Neverna worked like a finely tuned engine in providing impeccable service and always with a smile.The porters (Tadej, Jernej and Vasja) were always so friendly and professional, making one feel like they were at home.Housekeeping (Mojca, Aziza and Ana) provided me with truly wonderful service. Thank you!Posted onVerified Absolutely outstanding in every way This is definitely one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The location is incredible - a picturesque setting right on the river in the middle of the pedestrian zone, a 10 minute walk from everywhere you want to be. The rooms are all thoughtfully and stylishly designed, each with its own character. I can't say enough good things about the staff, with Robert and especially Yulia being just incredible. She was interesting, helpful, opinionated, funny and listened carefully to figure out what we individually would find fun to do. All her recommendations for things to do and places to eat were spot on, and helped us fall in love with Ljubljana despite a couple of rainy days. Breakfast is excellent, and an event in itself. This really is the perfect luxury boutique hotel and I feel lucky we got to enjoy it. Cannot wait to come back!Posted onVerified Amazing service in a charming hotel We spent 3 next nights at this hotel and loved it! The rooms are all different - each charming in its own way. Very well located in Ljubljana - our rooms were quiet even though the area is filled with charming restaurants and shops.What sets this hotel apart however is the service. Yulia and Robert met us a short way from the hotel which is in a pedestrian only area. From that moment on they made us feel welcome and at home! Yulia took time to listen to our interests/preferences and made reservations and suggestions that made our trip even more special. She is truly a gem!Everyone at the hotel went out of their way for us - wonderful breakfasts and a lovely fellow served us wine that we had brought with us one night. This is truly the epitome of what a 5 star boutique hotel should be!!!Posted onVerified Best Hotel in Slovenia I would like to preface this review by saying that if you are on the fence on choosing a hotel in Ljubljana- this is the one to go to. Everything from the rooms and the service to the food was absolutely amazing and on another level.To start off, the whole hotel team is extremely professional, courteous and went out of their way to give us a fantastic experience. I required a PCR test to catch my flight and one of the staff members walked us directly to the site and back, and also followed up with the facility to make sure the test was received. My birthday also happened to fall upon our stay and the team surprised us with delicious sweets and a complimentary offer to visit the nearby Museum of Illusions. Throughout the whole stay, they went above and beyond for us.The restaurant in the hotel is also quite good, serving Slovenian specialties and a vast array of breakfast/lunch options. The rooms we stayed in were very clean, well-designed and had all the proper amenities we required.I simply cannot recommend this hotel enough. I would urge anyone going to Ljubljana to choose this place to stay.Thank you again Zlata Ladjica for an amazing experience.
